Biosperm sperm bank: Presentation

BIOSPERM is a new Sperm Bank. It offers many advantages that address the needs of Assisted Reproduction Centers. Biosperm only accepts donors with the highest quality of sperm.

It is widely accepted that a normal seminogram does not guarantee male fertility. By applying the new technologies currently recommended for the study of male infertility, including chromosomal alterations and sperm DNA integrity testing, we can achieve a more thorough selection of donors.

Also, since we only accept donors who meet the normal criteria, we can greatly reduce the failures in fertilization by excluding the less fertile donors.

BETTER RESULTS
In Biosperm, only donors with the highest sperm quality are accepted. The screening of the donor includes a FISH and DNA fragmentation testing of sperm.

Biosperm also has available  IUI-ready samples.
The advantage of these samples is that they can be used immediately after thawing for intrauterine insemination or IVF, without any further processing. The results of retrospective clinical studies indicate that pregnancy rates in donor intrauterine insemination (IUI) cycles with IUI-ready samples, are significantly higher.

LESS WORK FOR THE CENTER
IUI-ready samples reduce the workload of the laboratory staff, as these samples are already processed for artificial insemination or IVF. Furthermore, they provide important savings in terms of media and plasticware.

HOW TO REQUEST SAMPLES AND CONTROL THE RESULTS
In order to provide the most efficient service, samples should be requested, preferably, via e-mail through this website. The requesting center has a confidential site that allows them to access the current status of their requests and the results of the treatments undertaken using these samples.

WIDE RANGE OF PHENOTYPES
Biosperm has a large donor catalogue with donors with different phenotypic characteristics. This makes it easy for us to provide a sample with a very similar phenotype to the one you have requested.

Biosperm was founded in 2006 by the Biology Department of the Institut Marques in Barcelona, directed by Prof. Dr. Juan G Alvarez. The main reason behind this new initiative was to improve pregnancy rates and help embryologists in their daily work.
Biosperm is now available for all Assisted Reproduction Centers that may need it.
